Project Description

Bill Norris, PE

Water Resources Engineer

In 2006, when dam removals were on the rise, Bill realized a new passion. “A reservoir is like a blank slate on which to re-build a stream,” he says. “There’s something so satisfying about that.” Having managed a number of diverse water resource projects in the Pacific Northwest, Bill’s skill set includes: hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, field engineering, wetland and stream channel design and construction, biotechnical riverbank stabilization, and fish passage channel designs.

Bill’s experience as a civil engineer and his knowledge in that arena is often applied to our natural science design approach. Bill thrives in the hands-off, horizontal management style that’s at the center of Inter-Fluve’s culture. “It’s not top-down here, and a lot of mutual respect and trust is involved. Guidance and mentorship is there if and when you need it, but mostly we manage ourselves.”

Most of his spare time is spent with his wife and their two girls in Hood River, Oregon. When he has the time, he follows the snow. “I’d ski every day if I could.”
