Celebrating the completion of a 16-year project on the Penobscot River

Project supporters gathered at the Piscataquis and Penobscot rivers to celebrate completion of the third and final step of the 16-year Penobscot River Restoration Project: the “big river” that was built around the Howland Dam. The project opens access to more than 1,000 miles of river, stream and lake habitat to fish, including river herring, alewives and shad.
