Chewuch River Right side channel, Washington
Working with the Yakama Nation, we designed and constructed created a new 3,600-foot side channel to provide a diversity of aquatic and riparian habitat. Inter-Fluve wetland specialists collaborated closely with agency personnel and the design team to refine and modify the project to not only avoid and minimize wetland impacts, but to create riparian wetland habitat to complement and enhance fish habitat measures.
The side channel design incorporated natural bedforms and wetland benches adjacent to the side channel to enhance habitat potential.
Logs and salvaged whole trees were used to provide cover for aquatic pool habitat.
