Kinnickinnic River, Pulaski Park, Wisconsin
As part of the larger restoration project to remove more than seven miles of 1960s concrete (pictured here, before construction) from the river channel, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) and Milwaukee County Parks worked with Inter-Fluve on the $9M effort to restore the Kinnickinnic River that winds through Pulaski Park.
The project aims to slow the river, reduce flooding dangers, improve water quality keep currents from overwhelming storm sewers, improve aquatic and terrestrial habitat ecosystems and help adapt to the changing climate.
Inter-Fluve led the natural-looking and functioning channel design, as well as construction oversight. Aerial view of the completed project in 2021.
