Adam Weis, EIT

Engineering Technician

Adam’s journey to Inter-Fluve began with a deep love for the outdoors and a keen interest in chemistry. He grew up in Iowa City, Iowa, and enjoyed running, skiing, hunting, and fishing for trout in the Driftless (a region of the Midwest defined by a lack of glacial drift, resulting in rugged terrain and unique ecosystems). He developed a passion for chemistry in high school, and decided to pursue chemical engineering in college. During his undergraduate studies, he realized he wanted a career that would allow him to spend more time outdoors while making a positive impact on the environment. As a result, he continued his education and earned a master’s degree in environmental engineering.

Following graduation, Adam worked as a technician for the US Forest Service and the National Park Service, which saw him undertaking extensive fieldwork in remote parts of the Rocky Mountains and West Coast. His work took him from Montana and the Columbia Basin to Redwood National Park to the Wind River Range in Wyoming, where he even learned how to ride a horse to assist in alpine lake sampling—not something typically covered in engineering school! After several years out West, Adam returned to the Midwest when his fiancée secured a job in Minnesota.

Serendipitously for an engineer passionate about rivers, Adam’s relocation put him near our Saint Paul, Minnesota office, and he joined us in 2024. Outside of work, you can find Adam running around town, rock climbing, fishing, or looking for fun birds and plants in the beautiful woods and prairies of the Midwest.
