Sara Windoloski

Hydrologist

Sara is drawn not just to rivers and wetlands, but to the behavior of water itself. “It’s a freeing, spirited thing to study,” she says. Growing up in Chesapeake, Virginia, she was surrounded by water for most of her life. After a stint working for the USGS on wetland surveys in Maryland, Sara headed west to Oregon State University, where she earned a master’s degree in water resources science and a certificate in GIS. There, she conducted research on how atmospheric heatwaves affect stream temperatures and taught courses on watershed processes and ecology.

Since joining Inter-Fluve in 2024, Sara has brought a hydrologist’s lens to aquatic restoration—focused on how water moves through the landscape and how we can work with those dynamics to design resilient systems. She’s especially fond of headwater areas and enjoys projects that draw on her science communication skills. Outside of work, she spends her time hiking, backpacking, and volunteering on conservation projects.
