Landscape Architect & CAD Designer

Sofia is a Landscape Architect and CAD specialist intrigued “by designing spaces that improve the connection between people and the environment around them,” says Sofia. Raised in Redding, California (home of Mt. Shasta), she found a natural fit in the Landscape Architecture Program at UC Davis before kicking her career into high gear as one of 25 landscape designers in the City of San Francisco’s Public Works Department. For four years, she worked on massive capital improvement projects that were part of building out a city-wide green infrastructure program. From combatting combined sewer overflows with small projects like permeable pavement, flow-through planters and bio-swales, to improving the city’s public plazas, parks, and streetscapes Sofia was at the sharp end of figuring out how to be a leader in sustainable design – and implementation.

Following a year-long sabbatical in 2019, she joined Inter-Fluve in our Hood River office. Here she is capitalizing on the skills she acquired from the urban and environmental design projects she worked on in San Francisco and using them to contribute to her day-to-day role that focuses on all things CAD: surface creation, drafting and creating construction plans sets for restoration projects, and performing as-builts. An avid, enthusiastic athlete, Sofia’s thrilled to be in the Columbia River Gorge where she can pursue her other passions: kitesurfing, skiing, biking and all things endurance.
