Ashanie Long-Reid, GIT

Fluvial Geomorphologist

Ashanie is a fluvial geomorphologist and geologist in training (GIT) based in our Hood River office. She joined Inter-Fluve in 2025, just prior to completing her Master of Science in Geology at Western Washington University. There, she focused on sediment transport modeling to study the impact of abrasion on grain size and river channel morphology following debris flows. Born and raised in Jamacia, Ashanie’s work prior to graduate school involved working as a Spatial Analyst Consultant for the University of the West Indies (Mona) in Kingston, Jamaica and interning for the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology & Hydrology (CIMH) in Bridgetown, Barbados. In both roles, she focused on landslide susceptibility in Jamacia, Saint Kitts, and Trinidad.

Skilled in Hydraulic Modeling and HEC-RAS, GIS and evaluating river and floodplain conditions, her work at Inter-Fluve includes reach assessment reports, assisting in project identification at Washington’s Nason Creek, sediment transport modeling, Habitat Assessment and Restoration Planning (HARP) modeling for beaver along the Snake River, and others. What’s next for Ashanie at Inter-Fluve? “More field work and construction,” says Ashanie. Ashanie is a voracious reader, regularly delving into multiple books at once.
